As the leaves continue to turn vibrant oranges and reds, and slowly make their way down to the Earth, it reminds us to take a moment to reflect. Life is cyclical. We measure it in seasons. First comes Winter, then Spring, then Summer, then Fall, and over and over it goes. What I love about Fall most – aside from the pumpkin pie – is the stillness of the season. Summer is over, but Christmas is far enough away yet. There is time to rest. Time to refresh. Time to reflect.
As we look back on the summer, we praise God for his faithfulness to Fair Havens. Over our nine weeks of camp, we saw over 650 children go through our Children’s Ministry programs. They played, sang, crafted, and learned about our Saviour. In our Youth Program, we had over 700 youth learn skills, create powerful connections, and worship God. This summer we sponsored 10 families in need so that they could attend camp. In total, we hosted over 2,921 guests this summer.
Outside of the summer, we have been blessed with over 175 churches utilizing our facilities. Over 50 Schools have learned about God’s Creation through our Outdoor Creation Experiences program. In September over 160 ladies gathered for our annual Women’s Weekend Away, and the response has been amazing. God has certainly been at work at Fair Havens in 2019.
We want to thank all of our guests, Season Siters, and volunteers who contributed to this impactful year of ministry. We exist to build your families up, provide biblically sound teaching for you and your children, and to provide life changing experiences that your family will cherish.
Please stay connected with us this year. We would love to hear from you, and get a better understanding of how we can better serve each and every guest.
For The Body Is Not One Member, But Many
In September and October we hosted two Volunteer Work Weeks! Over 30 volunteers joined our team in service. It takes many hands to care for the grounds, the rooms, the office, and every aspect of the land God has given us.
In addition to our volunteer team, our maintenance team has been hard at work keeping our facilities in shape! Completed work includes new shingles on the Café and Sports Shop, with Heritage Chapel (The Rock) being the next location for new shingles! We are also replacing inefficient windows and putting new siding on the water side of our Riverside East accommodations!
In addition, we have also laid new grass for the lawn bowling green and some greens on the golf course!
Over the Thanksgiving Weekend we said farewell to our Season Siters as they closed up their trailers for the winter.
On Sunday, AGC President Bill Allan spoke in Irwin Chapel, before the Kitchen Staff blessed us with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pies! If you missed the Sunday service, you can listen to Bill’s message online at sermons.fairhavens.org.
We also had the blessing of beautiful weather. To experience the views for yourself, you can check out this short video.
